Applications are invited from botanic garden staff and museum educators in Italy, Portugal and the UK at all levels who are responsible for, or interested in, public engagement and education. We particularly welcome applications from staff in smaller gardens and from those who have not had previous opportunity to participate in staff development in topics related to the LearnToEngage modules.
You will need to have a basic command of English and be prepared to take part in debate and discussion; you should also be able to engage with academic literature. In addition, you should be a competent computer user (online learning will be easier for those with previous experience of using websites, email and online forum participation). You also will need access to a computer (desktop or laptop) with a reliable internet connection.
The modules themselves are fully funded and limited travel and accommodation bursaries for the on-site staff development sessions will be available to successful applicants - up to €550 per person for travel, accommodation and food (see module pages for the number of funded places available for each course). Further details about the bursary will be provided to applicants once selected for each course. Self-funded applicants from botanic gardens worldwide may also be considered; the modules for self-funded applicants are free of charge, however applicants will be required to fund their travel and subsistence.
LearnToEngage is currently in the pilot stage and therefore participants will be expected to form part of a Community of Practice that will not only enhance their learning but also help to improve the modules for future years.
